Names: "duck", "colluded duck, " "turkey - hole", "Papo of Peru", "jarrinha of cauda, " "jarrinha da Praia" (Brazil)

Geographical distribution and habitat: Grows in Brazil, Paraguay and the north - eastern Argentina (Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones, Santa Fe) in clearings in the jungle and mountains that line the rivers and streams.

Brief description of the plant: Enredadera perennial with leaves more or less deeply trilobuladas (rarely bilobuladas) discoloration, pubescent on the underside, glabrous on the beam, enervate. Flores reddish brown with purple streaks, long lip care of 20 - 35cm long. From a cylindrical capsule oblong, hexagon, with little or no faces of 5 - 7cm long by 2 - 3cm wide, dehiscent (opens in valves that hangs like an umbrella) Seeds flat, triangular - Cordes, warts on the back and smooth ventrally. It blooms in spring.

Uses and part used: Stems and leaves are used as anti; as the root emenagogo, alexifármaco and antiseptic for external use.

Quínicos components and isolated: no: aristoloquina.

Obs. There are other species of Aristolochia with similar uses and chemical components such as Aristolochia Argentina Gray and Aristolochia triangularis Cham.

Administration: cooking of 20 grams per liter of water, up to two cups a day.

Caution: The treatments must be discontinuous, with periods of rest (a week and took two of rest) Do not exceed the dose indicated by the risk of liver toxicity.
