CANCER Pharynx
The
pharynx
is an organ in form of hollow tube that begins behind the low nose and by the throat until comprising of the
esophagus
. This organ includes soft paladar, that is the later part of the mouth, the base of the
language
and the tonsils.
It
has
like
function
, allowing the passage of the air towards the trachea and foods towards the
esophagus
.
The
pharynx
cancer
is
a
disease
in which the cancerous cells are in weaves of the average part of the throat.
Generally three stages in this type of
cancer
are identified:
First stage:
When the tumor measures less than 2 centimeters and it
has
not been scattered to the lymphatic ganglia of the affected area.
Second stage:
When the tumor measures more than 2 centimeters,
but
less than 4 and it
has
not been scattered to the lymphatic ganglia of the area.
Third stage:
When the tumor measures more than 4 centimeters, or presents / displays any size
but
has
been scattered to the lymphatic ganglion of the neck and it does not measure more than 3 cm.
Fourth stage:
When the
cancer
has
been scattered to weaves around the
pharynx
and the lymphatic ganglia of the area can or not to have
cancer
. When it
has
been scattered to one or both sides of the neck or to any ganglion or when it
has
been scattered to other parts of the neck.
The people with faríngeo
cancer
have
a
greater risk of contracting other types of
cancer
in the area of the head and the neck, reason why studies are being made to apply quimioprevención therapies, with certain medicines that can prevent the
development
with second cancers in the mouth, throat, trachea, nose or
esophagus
, nevertheless this still is in study and investigation.
