Pyrethrum
Pyrethrum
The flowers are harvested without the stems, and dry in the shade in
a
well ventilated. The leaves of
a
cut hand when the plant is in bloom and dried on Cañiza or drier than 35 º
C
. Both sides of the plant stem
a
very penetrating odor and contain an oil alcanforado (
camphor
of
pyrethrum
) tannin,
bitter
substances and mucilages.
The infusion of 2 teaspoon of dried leaves or flowers per cup of water is used to combat digestive
disorders
due to its antiespasmódicas and antiparasitic. It is also useful in the treatment of gynecological
disorders
and to make enguajes mouth after extractions. In the latter case, the infusion should be more concentrated (4 tablespoons product / cup)

Active Principles.
Acid chrysanthemum (Crisanto - monocarboxylic) and its esters (pyrethrin I, I jasmolins, cinerins I) acid and
pyrethrum
(Crisanto - dicarboxylic) and its esters (pyrethrin II, jasmolins II, cinerins II)
Drug Action.
Anthelmintic, in internal use, antiparasitic, in external use.
Indications.
Intestinal
parasites: Oxyuriasis, ascaridiasis,
taeniasis
, tricouriasis, hookworm, lambliasis, and so on. In external use:
pediculosis
,
scabies
.
Galenica forms / Dosage.
PO hardly been used.
External use:
Extract of
pyrethrum
(0. 02% of pyrethrin)
