The rhizome.

Active Principles.

Saponósidos, Phloroglucinol (0. 5%) sucrose. Traces of essential oil. Tannins Catechists (3%) Lipids (8%) Bitter principles: samabaína. Some authors suggest the presence of glycyrrhizin.

Drug Action.

Colagogo, mild laxative, expectorant, worming, sweetener.

Indications.

Popularly used in: bronchitis, asthma, liver and gall bladder dyskinesias, Oxyuriasis, constipation.

Contraindications.

Do not prescribe oral dosage forms with alcohol content to children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Caution / Poisoning.

Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

Decoction: 1 teaspoon per cup dessert. Boil 5 minutes, 10 minutes to infuse. Two cups a day.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 25 - 40 drops, one to three times daily with meals.

Tincture (1: 10) 50 - 100 drops, one to three times a day.

Dust Root: 1 g, one to three times daily with meals.
