The rhizome.
Active Principles.
Essential
oil (0, 6 - 1%) pinene, cineol, eugenol, Sesquiterpenes, metilcanferol. Fenilalquilcetonas: gingeroles (spicy substances) Flavones compounds: galangina, alpinina. Resin. Tannins.
Drug Action.
Aperitive - estomáquica, eupéptica, carminativa, anti (actions similar to those of
ginger
) Spasmolytic, anti - inflammatory, general tonic.
Indications.
Inappetence,
dyspepsia
hiposecretoras,
flatulence
.
Asthenia
, convalescence. Popularly used in: dismenorreas, prevention of vomiting and dizziness, and chewing, against odontalgias.
Contraindications.
Do not prescribe dosage forms with
alcoholic
content for oral administration in
children
under two years or consultants in the process of
alcohol
addiction
.
Caution / Poisoning.
Take into account the
alcohol
content of the fluid extract and tincture.
Galenica forms / Dosage.
3% Infusion,
a
cup half hour before meals.
Fluid extract (1:
1) 10 to 20 drops before
each
meal.
Tincture (1:
10) 20 to 40 drops before
each
meal.
