It is a kind used to treat respiratory problems such as colds, whooping cough, cough, fever, vomiting and tuberculosis. The treatment consists of taking the cooking of flowers, either alone or with leaves, or mixed with the Manzanita bougainvillaea (Summer) and seeds of bitter orange; in cases of persistent disorders used the infusion of flowers with leaves of elder, Cypress, five blacks and peaches, sweetened with honey. It is also a good remedy for dysentery, diarrhea, nosebleeds, tonsillitis, stomach pain and picketing of insects, where it is recommended to take the infusion of the branches. It is said that these, but macerated, serve to epithelial disorders, applying them directly into the affected part.

Shrub that reaches a height of up to 3 m, stem very thin and branched. Its leaves are so ACORAZONADO and flowers of intense red color. It is originally from Mexico and other parts of America. It is found in warm climates, and semi semitemplado, and grows associated with the tropical forest subcaducifolia, subperennifolia, evergreen, oak and pine forests.
