Gálbulos, essential oil. Each oil or Miera, also called "juniper tar", produced by incomplete combustion of fuel wood (pirogenación) and subsequent correction.

Active Principles.

Essential oil - rich pinene, with canfeno, juneno, terpineol, guayacol, etilguayacol, cresol, cadineno and a bitter principle: juniperina.

Drug Action.

Gálbulos, popularly used as antiseptic, analgesic, hypoglycemic, emenagogo, abortion, diuretic, expectorant, antiasmático, anticatarral, hypotensive, antipruritic.

Essential oil: general tonic, appetizer, diuretic, Carmine and expectorant. In external use is rubefaciente, antifungal and anti.

Oil of each, under the skin: antiseptic, antiparasitic, keratolytic, antipruritic, anti - inflammatory and analgesic.

Indications.

Oil of each (topical) scabies, lice. Osteoarticular inflammations and skin problems (acne, eczema, psoriasis seborrheic dermatitis)

It was also used to fight tooth pain (although it was in danger of losing by breaking the millstone " (Mulet, 1991: 237)

Gálbulos, essential oil: inappetence, cystitis, urethritis, urolithiasis, oliguria, edema, hypertension, rheumatism, gout, bronchitis, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis. Topically in neuralgia, rheumatic pain and dermatophytoses.

Contraindications.

The essential oil is contraindicated during pregnancy (oxytocin can have an effect) infancy, childhood or in patients with neurological disorders (it can be nerve) and where there are inflammatory disorders of the renal parenchyma (see precautions)

In the event of cardiac or renal insufficiency, should only be used as a diuretic prescription.

Side Effects.

The essential oil can have an irritating action on the renal endothelium. Prolonged treatments can occur in albuminuria and hematuria.

Caution / Poisoning.

Do not prescribe oral dosage forms with alcohol content to children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

Internal use:

Decoction: 20 g / l, boil 3 minutes and infuse for 10. Three cups a day.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 10 to 20 drops three times daily.

Tincture (1: 10) 35 - 50 drops, one to three times a day.

Essential oil: 1 or 2 drops, one to three times a day, on a sugar cube in oily solution or an alcoholic.

Internal use:

Decoction: 20 g / l, boil 10 minutes, apply in the form of compresses or baths.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 10 to 20 drops three times daily.

Alcoholaturo: implement the friction zone to be treated.

Oil of each: liniment, salves, ointment, shampoo, lotions, to 5%.
