Drug Action.
At low doses acts as an expectorant, demulcent (anti - inflammatory, hydrating) and diuretic. At higher doses, as an emetic.
Indications.
Bronchitis
,
asthma
,
emphysema
,
gastrointestinal
spasms. Stomatitis and inconvenience of dentinción in external use. Most used in perfumery and liquor stores than in medicine.
Contraindications.
Do not prescribe dosage forms with
alcoholic
content for oral administration in
children
under two years or consultants in the process of
alcohol
addiction
.
Caution / Poisoning.
In high doses is
a
drastic
purgative
. In fresh, can cause
gastritis
and vomiting. Topically can cause
contact
dermatitis
.
Take into account the
alcohol
content of the fluid extract and tincture.
Galenica forms / Dosage.
Infusion:
one tablespoon per cup of dessert, three
a
day.
Fluid extract (1:
1) 10 drops, one to three times
a
day.
Tincture (1:
10) 15 - 30 drops, one to three times
a
day.
