Esophageal cancer.

Growth of malignant cells to multiply in an uncontrolled way in the esophagus.

Constitute 1% of all malignant tumors.

Higher incidence among 50 - 60 years.

Causes.

Unknown.

Signs and symptoms.

Pain or difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)

Rapid weight loss.

Regurgitation or bloody mucus.

Snuff.

Excess alcohol consumption.

Celiac disease.

Esofagoscopia.

Treatment:

Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy or mixture of both.

Medication.

Morphine for pain or avoid pain.

Tranquilizers and anxiolytics.

Anticholinergics blockers or calcium, to prevent esophageal spasms.

Diet: In the natural evolution of the disease, the worst ever tolerate solid foods should move first to a diet, paste, based purees, and then to a liquid diet.

Complications.

Rapid metastasis in the liver and lung.

Esophageal constriction.

Forecast.

Incurable except in cases of very early diagnosis.
