Active Principles.

Essential oil: esters, alcohols kind eremofilánico (petasol, isopetasol) lactones Sesquiterpenes. Inulin and other fructosanas, pectin. Pirrolizidínicos traces of alkaloids.

Drug Action.

The petasina is a powerful spasmolytic. It is also sedative, gastroprotective, antihypertensive, mucolytic and expectorant. The syrup gives it diuretic properties. In external use has been traditionally used as a healing.

Indications.

Irritative cough, bronchitis, emphysema, asthma.

Dysmenorrhea, migraine headaches.

States that require an increase in urine output: urinary disorders (cystitis, ureteritis, urethritis, oliguria, urolithiasis) hiperazotemia, hyperuricemia, gout, high blood pressure, edema, overweight accompanied by fluid retention.

Anxiety, insomnia. Gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, gastrointestinal spasms. Topically: wounds, sores food.

Contraindications.

Pregnancy, infancy, children, patients with hepatopathy, by the presence of alkaloids pirrolizidínicos.

Do not prescribe oral dosage forms with alcohol content to children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Caution / Poisoning.

Use only by prescription.

Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

See precautions.

Decoction to 3%: one to three cups a day.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 20 - 40 drops, three times a day.

Tincture (1: 5) 50 - 100 drops, one to three times a day.

Dry extract (5: 1) 50 mg / capsule, once or twice a day.

Discontinuous prescribe treatments.
