The leaves and fruit.

Active Principles.

Leaves: Tannins (10%) organic acids, flavonoids, pectin.

Fruits: vitamins, organic acids (1. 5 - 2%) malic, oxalic, tartaric, essential oil, sugar, vitamins.

Drug Action.

Leaves: astringent (antidiarrheal, healing) antiinflammatory, diuretic.

Fruits: vitamins, flavoring.

Indications.

Leaves: diarrhea. Cystitis, oliguria, kidney stones. In topical use: wounds and skin sores, mouth or corneal, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, parodontopatías, pharyngitis, dermatitis, erythema, pruritus, vulvovaginitis.

Fruits: food use, syrup (such as correcting organoleptic taste and aroma)

Contraindications.

Gastritis, gastric ulcer: the tannins can irritate the gastric mucosa, this side effect can be offset by associating with drug mucilages, as the marshmallow.

Do not prescribe dosage forms with alcoholic content for oral administration in children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Caution / Poisoning.

Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

Internal use:

Infusion (leaves) one tablespoon per cup of dessert, infuse 10 minutes. Three cups a day.

Fluid extract (1: 1) of leaves: 30 - 50 drops three times daily.

Tincture (1: 5) 50 - 100 drops, one to three times a day.

External use:

Decoction (leaves) 30 to 50 g / l, boil 10 minutes and infuse for 10. Add one teaspoon (coffee) of salt. Apply in the form of gargarismos, mouthwash, eye drops or eye baths (isotonizar)

Fruits: food use, syrups.
