Used Part.
The bark.
Active Principles.
Tannins Catechists (3 - 10%) combined with more than 20 alkaloids (15%) *, such as quinine, quinidine, cinconina, cinconidina.
Bitter
principles (triterpenic acids) quinovósico acid. Traces of
essential
oil.
* According to the RFE, the dry drug must contain at least 6. 5% of total alkaloids, of which no less than 30% and not more than 60% alkaloids are the type of quinine.
Drug Action.
It is
a
tonic, appetizer, digestive, colagogo, astringent, febrífugo, Antiprotozoals, antiseptic, healing. The quinidine is
a
cardiac
tonic, enhancer of the action of digitalis.
Indications.
Inappetence,
dyspepsia
hiposecretoras, Hepatobiliary dyskinesias.
Flu
, fatigue, convalescence,
febrile
illnesses,
malaria
. Prophylaxis of
cardiac
arrhythmias
, treatment of paroxysmal tachycardia and
atrial
fibrillation
.
Cramps
at night. In external use:
pharyngitis
, stomatitis,
alopecia
seborrhea.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to quinine or any of its components.
Pregnancy
, by its action oxytocin.
Extreme
anemia
, the risk of accidents blood.
Treatment with digitalis or anticoagulant (may boost its share)
Gastritis
, gastric ulcers (for the tannins)
Do not prescribe oral dosage forms with
alcohol
content to
children
under two years or consultants in the process of
alcohol
addiction
.
Side Effects.
Occasionally, after making preparations
machine
, appear
allergic
skin reactions or fever. Less frequently
has
described the onset of thrombocytopenia.
Caution / Poisoning.
Its prolonged use or taking high doses can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, abnormal hearing and vision,
headaches
and rashes.
Take into account the
alcohol
content of the extract fluid from the dye and syrup.
Galenica forms / Dosage.
Internal use:
Decoction to 2%. Boil 5 minutes. Take one or two cups
a
day, half an hour before meals.
Destanizado fluid extract (1:
5, containing 5% of quinine) 25 - 50 drops, one to three times
a
day.
Tincture (1 / 5) 50 - 100 drops, one to three times
a
day.
Syrup (5% extract fluid destanizado) One to four tablespoons per day (20 - 60 g)
Macerate:
20 g / l. Let macerate an hour. Take
a
cup half hour before meals.
External use:
Decoction to 3% for gargarismos, mouthwashes.
Tincture, glycolic extract (1:
5) Implemented in the form of lotion or shampoo.
