Flower buds (cloves)

Active Principles.

Abundant essential oil (15 - 20%) rich in eugenol (80 - 85%) acetileugenol, Caryophyllene, pinene, cariofilina, methyl salicylate. Tannins (10 - 13%) mucilages. Phytosterols: sitosterol, and stigmasterol campestrol.

According to the RFE, dried drugs must contain at least 150 ml / kg of essential oil.

Drug Action.

The essential oil gives it a strong antibacterial, antifungal, carminativa, stimulating appetite and digestion, expectorant and, locally, anti - inflammatory, analgesic and healing.

Indications.

Inappetence, dyspepsia hiposecretoras, flatulence, diarrhea. Bronchitis.

In topical use: dermatophytoses, cleaning wounds and skin ulcers, stomatitis, parodontopatías, odontalgias, tonsillitis, otitis.

Contraindications.

Unless otherwise indicated, we recommend not to prescribe essential oils through internal during pregnancy, lactation, children under six years or patients with gastritis, gastric ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, hepatopathy, epilepsy, Parkinson and other neurological diseases.

Do not administer, or topically applied on areas of skin blemished or children under six years old or people with respiratory allergies or with known hypersensitivity to this or other essential oils.

Do not prescribe dosage forms with alcohol content to children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Caution / Poisoning.

It has an irritating action on the mucous membranes. Due to its high content of essential oil (one of the richest in the world vegetable) we must be cautious because of its potential effect on the nervous system exciting (in doses extraterapéuticas is neurotoxic)

Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

Internal use:

Infusion: 10 g / l, infuse 15 minutes. Three cups a day before (appetizer) or after a meal.

Essential oil: 1 to 3 drops, three times a day, on a sugar cube or oily solution. Capsules (25 to 50 mg / caps, 1 to 3 a day)

Dust encapsulation: 200 - 500 mg / day, in two or three shots.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 20 - 30 drops, one to three times a day.

Tincture (1: 5) 30 - 50 drops one to three times a day.

External use:

Infusion to 2%, applied in the form of washes, mouthwashes or gargarismos.

Essential oil or pure alcohol solution: impregnate gauze or a cotton swab and apply on the teeth.

Oleate: one to three drops in instillations ear, two or three times a day.
