French: Hysope.

From the family of Labiadas.

Expectorant and stomach. It stimulates the nervous system.

Used Part.

The flowering tops.

Active Principles.

Essential oil (0, 3 - 1%) rich in Thujone, pinocanfona; principle bitter lactones: marrubiína, phenolic acids: caféico, chlorogenic, rosmarínico; flavonoids: diosmine. Triterpenes: Ursola acid, oleanólico; quaternary ammonium: hill. Tannins (5%)

Drug Action.

The essence, at low doses, it behaves like antiseptic, aperitif, digestive, Carmine. The astringent tannins have an effect (antidiarrheal, healing) The marrubiína acts as béquico and expectorant. It is also spasmolytic and slightly hypotensive.

Indications.

Flu, colds, bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma.

Inappetence, dyspepsia hiposecretoras, flatulence.

Hypertension.

Topical use in cleaning and disinfection of wounds, burns and skin ulcers.

Contraindications.

Unless otherwise indicated, we recommend not to prescribe essential oils through internal during pregnancy, lactation, children under six years or patients with dystonia neurovegetative, gastritis, gastric ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, hepatopathy, Epilepsy, Parkinson's or other neurological diseases (see precautions)

Do not administer, or topically applied to children under six years old or people with respiratory allergies or with known hypersensitivity to this or other essential oils.

Do not prescribe dosage forms with alcoholic content for oral administration in children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.

Side Effects.

The essential oil can cause contact dermatitis and allergic reactions (bronchospasm)

Caution / Poisoning.

A high dose (2 g of substance) has a convulsive effect, together with sensory and mental disorders.

The essential oil should be used only by prescription and under control optional.

Take into account the alcohol content of the extract fluid from the dye and syrup.

Galenica forms / Dosage.

Internal use:

Infusion: 10 to 30 g / l, infuse 15 minutes, three cups a day.

Fluid extract (1: 1) 30 - 50 drops, one to three times a day.

Tincture (1: 5) 50 - 100 drops, one to three times a day.

Syrup (5% extract fluid) 30 to 60 g per day, three or four shots.

Dry extract (5: 1) 200 - 600 mg / day, in two or three shots.

Distilled water swab from 50 to 100 g / day.

Essential oil (see precautions)

1 to 3 drops three times daily in an infusion on a sugar cube or in solution alcohílica or oily.

Capsules (25 to 50 mg / caps. Two or three a day.

Suppositories (50 - 100 mg / sup. One to three a day.

Topical use:

Infusion: 30 g / l, applied as compresses or baths.

Oleate or alcoholaturo.
